Certified Software Engineer (CSE‌®)

The Software Engineering Career:

Computer software engineers apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. The tasks performed by these workers evolve quickly, reflecting new areas of specialization or changes in technology, as well as the preferences and practices of employers.

Software engineers can be involved in the design and development of many types of software, including computer games, web applications, mobile applications, word processing and business applications, operating systems and network distribution, and compilers, which convert programs to machine language for execution on a computer.

Career Path:

After 3-5 years of experience many Software Engineers are promoted to a Senior Software Engineer position. Depending on the employee's skills and interests, a Senior Software Engineer may later be promoted to a Software Architect (a very senior designer of complex programs) or a role in Project Management.

A CSE‌® certified professional exhibits wide-ranging skillsets that are required for writing software and developing products in a large, team-based project work-environment. CSE‌® certified professionals are required to undertake a rigorous pre-certification study across 8 modules to gathering skills and knowledge not only related to computer science and programming, but also on team-work, software quality, lifecycle approach and business logic and analytics.

CSE‌® is awarded to individuals who successfully complete all the requirements as prescribed by the Software Engineering Quality Board (SEQB), BCI. These requirements primarily include qualifying the multistage online CSE‌® examinations organized worldwide in various authorized BCI centers on dates specified in the BCI Assessments Calendar.
